Delete your account
Deleting your Main Street account ends your access and cannot be undone. There are two ways to do it.
From inside the app
- Tap your picture in the top right to open Account.
- Under “Your account”, tap Delete account.
- Read what deletion does, tick “I understand this cannot be undone”, enter your password, then tap Delete my account.
Your password is asked for because holding a signed-in phone is not enough on its own to end an account for good.
If you have already uninstalled the app
Write to support@rmsp.org from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will reply to confirm once it is done.
What deletion removes
- Your access to videos and the forums ends straight away, on every device you have signed in on.
- Your profile is removed: your name, address, phone number, email address, employer and occupation. Your public identity — your first name, last initial and state — stops appearing in the app.
- The forums you follow, your notifications, anyone you have blocked, and the record of the legal documents you accepted.
- The threads and comments you have written stay in the forums, with your name taken off them. Other people have replied underneath, and taking your words away would take their conversations with them. Anything you want gone entirely, withdraw it first.
- Campaign-finance law may require Main Street to keep a record of what you contributed. Anything kept for that reason is never shown to anyone in the app.
Payments
Deleting your account does not stop a Membership. It keeps renewing and keeps being charged until you cancel it in the App Store or Google Play, so cancel there first. The part of the period you have already paid for is not refunded either way.
